Winter hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily Bridgewater Marina, located at Hales Ford Bridge, is home to the largest family of rental boats on the lake and operates year-round. What a great way to explore SML through our four beautiful seasons! At the beginning of the year, they purchase an all-new fleet, rent them for the heavy tourist months, and then sell them off in the fall. This way the watercraft remain in excellent condition with very low engine hours. In addition to their flagship location, they operate five satellites in the summer, making it super convenient to rent a boat no matter where you are on the lake. This marina is well known for their Feed the Fish for Make-A-Wish campaign. Bridgewater sells popcorn bags for kiddos to feed the huge carp that gather around the docks and donates 100% of the proceeds to Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia. Since starting the program six years ago, they have donated nearly $150,000. Must-try for those visiting: Get out on the water in a boat or on a PWC since that's truly the best way to experience the beauty of Smith Mountain Lake and all it has to offer. If you can't, then at least stop by the marina to feed the fish. It's a true SML tradition!
