Carefree Boat Club Opens for Second Season

April 1st marked the start of the second season at Carefree Boat Club Smith Mountain Lake based out of Crazy Horse Marina.

If you are unfamiliar with the concept of a boat club, they have been around for decades, and can be found all over the world! The first one to operate here on local waters is part of the Carefree family, and as with many clubs, membership at one location gives you free reciprocity privileges to all the others!

My husband and I are members, and the decision was an easy one for us: we wanted to try out the boating lifestyle, but only had a few day-rentals worth of experience under our belts, so we were hesitant to jump into the commitment of boat ownership with both feet. We also didn't want the maintenance and headache that comes along with water toys. It goes against our intentional lifestyle choices which include not owning loads of “stuff” because then the “stuff” starts owning you (the time and money you spend maintaining it).

Boat club-ing was the perfect answer.

As a member you share the fleet (which is at four boats now and will grow as more people join) with your fellow members. The boats - two tritoons, a center console, and a wake boat - are fully maintained for you. Whenever you make a reservation, all you have to do is head down to the dock, and your boat is clean, gassed up, door opened, and ready to go. No wrestling with a cover, putting up the bimini, cleaning out the cobwebs (or POLLEN!), nothing. Just jump aboard and you're off for a lovely time on the water!

Sound nice? It is! If you want to find out more, you can request information via the button below (and if you do, be sure and let them know you heard about Carefree from The Current, because they offer referral benefits).
