The Peaks Retreat and Adventure Center (TPRAC) in Thaxton, VA is a wonderful area venue to consider whether you're looking for team building activities or overnight group retreats, hosting a private party, planning a wedding, or any other special event! The 66-acre property offers year-round fun in a natural setting, encouraging participants to unplug as they connect with each other and soak in the great outdoors.
This thoughtfully developed complex encompasses hiking trails, a climbing wall, ropes course, zipline, pool, nine-hole disc golf, and more! The amenities are available to overnight guests, as well as those that choose to book the venue for day use. Center Director, Susan Herndon-Powell, says that in addition to the facility offerings, they also have trained staff available to provide nature programming, lifeguarding, and any other assistance you require. Each package is custom-designed to best meet the unique goals and needs of your group.
The Peaks can accommodate up to 80 overnight guests between their two onsite lodges, one of which supplies a kitchen and common area along with the sleeping quarters.
A 3500 sq. ft. main hall is the perfect gathering space for hosting any sized crowd from a small personal event to a company-wide celebration. It boasts a large commercial kitchen that's ideal for catering and your rental fee includes all the equipment you might need: sound system, tables, chairs, etc.
The acreage that houses The Peaks was originally developed by Woodmen of the World 20 years ago and was purchased by CustomED (The Peaks' parent company) in 2021. Susan joined the team as an area native with over 20 years of experience in the outdoor adventure world and is so excited about the potential for growth that the property holds!
One little teaser she mentioned was that there are plans in the works to start construction this fall on a cluster of glamping tents, complete with wood stoves, that will be available to the public on days when groups have not booked the entire Center grounds.
Speaking of “available to the public”, they are gearing up for a Community Adventure Day on August 19th when anyone can come check out all that TPRAC offers!
